Contemplative Mind, Body and Spirit Worship
8:30 to 9:00 a.m. Sunday at Christ Episcopal Church, 517 Douglas Ave., Yankton
“Serenity” - embraces the mind, body and spirit with elements of moving meditation, contemplative sitting, holy reading (lectio), and chanting. Participants begin with some simple movements of yoga or tai chi chih that are easy for all to do. This moving meditation, followed by a few minutes of contemplative sitting, helps each person enter a peaceful state of being. A holy reading of prose, poetry or a psalm is offered - an ancient to contemporary reading that gently touches the heart and mind. “Serenity” ends with a prayer for peace, a simple chant and a resonant OM.
“Serenity” comes with no attachments or obligations. Christ Episcopal Church is pleased to offer hospitality and place to gather in peace and friendship with individuals of diverse spiritual backgrounds.
